Everything I ordered was one size fits all (I know she labeled some as 3x and 6x but I doubt that translates to American sizes). My stuff would probably fit anywhere from a US size 4 to 24. That’s the beauty of the kaftan — the drawstring does the sizing for you. My only wish was that the drawstring was a bit lower — if you are tall and have big boobs it might be a bit tight (I can wear a sports bra and get away with it). She also makes some without drawstrings, and there are a bunch of etsy sellers who do nice big chiffon type kaftans for cheap. I’ll link next time I see one (I’m already hankering for more kaftans!)
Also, if you are worried, just send her a message before you order. Say “these are my measurements…would ___ item#___ fit me?” I’m sure she would tell you and/or suggest an alternative. Good luck!
a friend of mine just announced the other day, ‘this is the summer I go full muu’muu!’ and I was like, i’m already there, as i was sitting in my Eddie Bauer caftan from 2 yrs ago that I had NEVER WORN and then last wk I was like *&^&$@-it, I’m wearing it, and then everyone gave me total compliments on it. So anyway, to see our zeal for the caftan confirmed on one of my Most Favorite Blogs is pretty much the thumbs up sign from the universe I was looking for.
Honestly, the packaging is so cheap if you saw it on teh bottom shelf at the store you’d think it was $5…but holy cats, the contents. I’m not saying it’s a miracle worker, but it’s easily the best ‘all round’ sort of balm I have ever tried. Some folks I was reading love it for their hair. Some person was saying she uses it on her horses and to polish wood. Go figure, right?!
Kaftans are the greatest. I’ve been rockin’ ’em for years (and getting made fun of every time, but whatever, I’m comfortable). That was a fun post today!
LOVE. ME. SOME. EGYPTIAN. MAGIC. So nice to know you have joined the cult following. Also, the back story on the owner of the company is hilarious—no joke, he changed his name to LordPharoah ImHotepAmonRa after meeting a sage on the mean streets of Chicago: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/27/fashion/27SKIN.html?_r=0
Ooh, God bless Mrs. Roper and the great Audra Lindley, who portrayed her with such sweeping elegance in all those wacky 1970’s colors! Kaftans are the great summer go-to and work for just about anything.
Gotta get some of that Sriracha Mayo, too. Sounds totally Kaftan-delish!
Ooh, what Etsy store did you buy your kaftans from? I totally want some for this summer.
Hey Sarah, if you click on “Kaftans” in the sources line at the bottom it’ll take you there directly.
Aunt Peaches — can you comment on how “true to size” the items you purchased were?

Thanks so much — I appreciate it!
You are awesome, thanks for showing me how to use the intertubes 🙂
No problem! Hope you get something good. She has lots of awesome kaftans!
I would like to know the etsy shop too
Beautiful kaftans, and that laundry basket is amazing!!

Lands End caftan. I stand corrected.
Haha…I never knew Land’s End was in the kaftan business. I’ll have to check them out…
ha right? this was 2 yrs ago, it was a pool coverup thingamabob. 🙂
That Egyptian Magic seems like a miracle. Sounds like it may be worth the $30!

Larissa, that article was AMAZING. I need to meet this man! Hard to believe this was published in 2007 and here I am, late to the game!
Ooh, do share the Etsy shop!! <– no, don’t, because I just scrolled up in the comments to find out where it is.
Big squishy hugs! Or cold side-shoulder hugs, whichever you prefer!
Big squishy hugs for you, Heather 🙂

It is indeed, delish! I can only imagine Mrs. Roper munching on Sriracha mayo on a club sandwich down at the Reagle Beagle…
