Five years ago I bought a remnant scrap of 1940’s bark cloth at a flea market.
And for five years it sat in a closet untouched, unused, haunting me with its very presence, reminding me that I accumulate way too many pretty things for one person.
And then these old chairs came to light and needed some new paint and cushions.
And then I said to myself, Dang, sometimes the hoarding thing pays off.
Ah, it is so refreshing to hear about the good side of hoarding. From the tv, or my family, all I hear is “declutter” or “room to sit down.” Don’t they realize the importance of all this stuff? One of these days, they’ll be thanking me. 😉
That fabric is fantastic! And I love the green paint, so springy!
Peaches, those are gorgeous! I love that amazing vintage print, just perfect with your paint color. Oooh!
I love that you did not place the fabric pattern the same on both chairs.
Really, really lovely! This makes me feel better about the broken chairs I have moved three (three!) times and insist on keeping. They have such potential… so does our storage space. *sigh*
I dig that retro Hawaiian print! I want them, I need them, I must have them….dang, I can’t have them.
Okay, I am totally confused now. I thought your dining room was pink with a high wainscoting. Your dining table is beautiful, do you have the leaf? These chairs are great. What’s nice is that you can always find more bark cloth to coordinate with this pattern. I love to redo old chairs, I have about 5 in the line up.
Great redo! Love the way the chairs look now!
Oh good, I’m not the only person that can’t pass up on a pretty piece of decorator cloth at a yardsale. Trouble is I have some things I bought when my daughter was little. She’s going to be 30!
I have a set of similar chairs, but mine have a metal inset where your 3 ovals are. I love the green color and the fabric. I’ll have to check out what bark cloth is. I want to paint each of my chairs a different bold color. That is, when I get around to it. Thanks for the nudge.
