Mr. Selfridge totally helps fill the downtown void in my life! Even though I totally hated Lady May in season one; I feel like I’m her better understanding (and loving her) in season two. Plus; Jeremy Piven looks incredibly fine with all that facial hair. I hope someone chimes in about that hotdog toaster thing. I’m curious about how hard it would be to clean something like that.
Hot dog toaster cleaning…RIGHT? I read the amazon reviews — the cleaning sounds surprisingly easy. The metal tubes around the meat part are removable — just take out and wash. The bread parts have a crumb tray like a normal toaster.
Mr Selfridge aired here straight after a show called The Paradise – the two were so similar that it looked like someone had used the same script but changed the character names …so it took me until Season 2 of Mr S to get into it – but it’s really superb. The costumes definitely did it for me and I’m with Amy about Lady May 🙂 Fil
Agreed, I also watched The Paradise (season 1 at least). Similar vibe but less romantic/feminine. Selfridge has a bit more bluster. More about the times and less about the characters hope/dreams/yadada. Some of acting from minor characters is dreadful, but I like the historical angle a lot. When does the Paradise come back?
Sounds so delicious by your description! I am in love with Shiraz, but some are better than others. I love the brand Yellowtail. It is a yellow label. Watch out for the Shiraz with Grenache which also has the yellow label…but I didn’t care for it. You might. It’s a lot of experimentation, I tell ya! Do you have a Total Wine store hear you? I was in ours the other day and realized that here is no way you could even taste all the different wines in a lifetime! So fun!
My mother-in-law (who was AWESOME!) had a Hot Diggity Dogger toaster — and I’m NOT lying about the name. I would buy it because of the name alone! She would laugh everytime she pulled it out and all the nieces and nephews (and adults) would come running. Memories like these are priceless!

That book sounds excellent. I need something new to accompany my cereal. xxx
Chickadee, you are famous without grope-age by the Pivs. That he copped a feel is a lucky bonus—for him!
The book looks like a fun little read. Must check into it.
cavit moscato. usually fairly cheap (and it goes on sale regularly), pairs well with most foods, and is a sweeter moscato without being SWEEEEEEET.
i keep catching little bits of “mr. selfridge”… thanks for sharing the link, i should actually watch it 🙂
I LOVE that you created an image vs text/in post. So clever 😉 always
I am a wine person, in that I make wine for a living, and I love your description. I am adding this to my Trader Joe’s shopping list.
And i am a little bit jealous that Ari Gold grabbed your butt!
