So. This thing happened wherein the Queen Latifah Show asked me to make some stuff.
*yawn*
I KNOW! NOT YAWN. THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF YAWN. THIS IS AN ALL CAPS OPPOSITE OF YAWN. EXCLAMATION POINT! QUEEN LATIFAH! EXCLAMATION POINT!
Okay. I’m going to calm down now.
Where to begin? Twenty some years ago, 1993 to be specific, sitting on the floor of a friend’s bedroom, eating Cheetos, prank calling boys we liked, we briefly interrupted our shenanigans to turn on MTV in hopes of catching the video for Bryan Adam’s (Everything I Do) I Do It For You. Because we were classy like that and the video featured a sexy Kevin Costner before he got weird. Sadly, we just missed Bryan Adams, but the closing was immediately followed with something new. Something…unfamiliar. A few melodic moments of a solo saxophone followed by the thunderous boom of a woman yelling, “WHO YOU CALLING A BITCH?”
…and thus began my love affair with Queen Latifah.
She’s an actress, an author, a rapper, musician, activist, business mogul, and all-around Bad Ass. Did you know she signed her first recording contact at 17? Did you know she managed the careers of Outcast, LL Cool J, and Naughty By Nature? Did you know she now has a talk show and it’s pretty awesome?
QueenLatifah.com has clips of past shows, as well as some great articles and resources for all kinds of other things. My first post went up today and it’s a quick collection of summer tips and tricks. Helpful ways to beat the heat! I made all the photos real tasteful and did not include any shots of glitter and/or cats and/or glitter cats. So you should be proud of me on that front. OK, Aunt Peaches, I discovered you about three weeks ago, and I have read every post in your whole blog. Yup, went through and went crazy. Haven’t vacuumed the cat or painted my nails in three weeks, because I have been reading like a maniac. Thank you for such fun and creative ideas, and for having such an original voice. (An ex-Chicagoan, now up in where-Jesus-lost-his-sandals northern Illinois/Wisconsin border) Now, if you have any influence with the internet spirits, can we get a DSL speed faster than pitiful up here? I click on your posts, then go have a cup of coffe. Usually, it’s mostly loaded by then….but worth the wait.

I am feeling very stupid…and I don’t like it. I can’t figure this out….are you going to be on Queen L’s show? Are you writing on her blog?? Are you writing articles for a real magazine? I am confused without the dazed. I love, love, love your blog and all the fabulous things you make! Yay for that. And if you are going to be on the TV, I want to watch!! Somebody take pity on me here and tell me what’s up!! All ten of my lovely happy fat cats will do whatever we have to do to get cool and jiggy with all this stuff goin’ down……..(now you know how uncool I am)
If you follow the links you’ll find it. Yes, I’m writing for her site. Her television show’s site isn’t just about the show has a whole bunch of articles and resources on interesting topics. They were looking to expand into more lifestyle/diy/etc and called me up. It’s a very cool feather in my cap although I guess its not that cool if people don’t what it is. Guess I’ll have to work on that.
