With Fat Tuesday coming up next week, I am itching to flex some Mardi Gras spirit this weekend (albeit from afar!). It’s been a couple years since my last visit to New Orleans, but, rest assured, my bead stash is still holding strong. I told myself I wouldn’t schedule another trip to NOLA until I used it up, so it’s high time I get going!
1. rainbow necklaces 2. bangal bracelets 3. wreath
4. sailor’s valentine boxes 5. ceiling light cover 6. beaded chandelier 7. bowling ball mosaic
8. diet coke mosaic (it sold!) 9. statement necklace 10. ornament display
Do you have an interesting way to use or display leftover Mardi Gras beads? Let’s hear it!

Hi Peaches!
If you really love Mardi Gras beads you may already be familiar with Stephan Wanger a NOLA artist who uses leftover/found MG beads to create some astonishing paintings! I first saw his work in 2011 and was blown away. Here is a link if you or your readers are interested in seeing some of his work (or just google image his name) : http://www.galeriaalegria.com
Your ideas of course, are also fabulous!

You know what — I have totally seen his tuff. And in person too! Although I did not note his name. I’m glad to have this link. Thanks for posting!!!

Hello! Love your blog – have been lurking for over a year and thought I should pay you back somehow for all the entertainment you’ve given me – Aunt Peaches, if you ever find yourself in central England you’ll never be short of a home made brownie and a coffee ( I even know of a little shop which has glittered flamingos!) – thank you for every inspirational post – Susan

Thanks, Susan! You are too kind. I may take you up on that brownie one day 🙂

My favorite use for Mardi Gras beads at the moment is actually as cat toys. One of my cats has refused to play with anything in the two years I’ve had him, until I dropped a string of beads a few weeks ago. Now both cats are completely obsessed and my house looks like a parade float threw up all over it. Other than that, I’m trying to figure out a way to attach strings of beads to the cats collars so they can have something festive to wear when I get bored and feel the need to exploit them on Instagram.
I realize that this entire comment makes me sound like a crazy cat lady but I’m totally ok with that.

Aunt Peaches, I made some solar lamps for my front porch and a hanging from a shepherd’s hook using hanging planters, solar lights, Mardi Gras beads and thin wire.
