I don’t know what it is about wax paper, but it makes me happy. Maybe it’s the old-fashioned feel, or the way it tears so nicely. The way it smells a bit like crayons, or, maybe it’s because it’s so inexpensive and useful? Some of my favorite childhood arts and crafts projects started (and ended) with a big roll of wax paper. When the folks at Pentel asked me to come up with something to celebrate Spring, my first I thought butterflies, then I thought wax paper. Throw a box of oil pastels and an iron in the mix and you have these awesome creatures. Go on and check them out!

Those butterflies bring back memories of tissue paper & painted clothespin butterflies! Such fun! After taking your survey just now I went to Pinterest to see if I’m following you – Yes – and then checked out your Facebook page too. No wonder I don’t get much done here at home – too much fun stuff online!

I know what you mean Jane. The internet is a rabbit hole!

A day or so ago I meant to comment on your black wall blog entry. I really like the black wall idea — normally I wouldn’t, but with the artwork and creativity you display I think it would really set it off beautifully.

Thanks Tonilea. That’s my hope!

How about glassine? I discovered it at an art store the other day and stood there for an embarrassingly long amount of time just smoothing it, crinkling the edge just a bit and generally feeling happy about it. It’s like waxed paper for divas or something.

I don’t know! You’ll have to try it and tell me. I have used glassine envelopes and they are LOVELY but have never tried wax. Sounds fun though!

When I was a kid, every fall, my brothers would help me iron pretty fall leaves between sheets of waxed paper, & I did it with my kids, too! Is actually not a great way to preserve leaves, but it was fun for kids

That is a great idea. Now I read this and it sounds familiar, although I don’t recall doing it myself. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks Lauri!
