Allison Holdridge‘s exotic, summery prints are my top visual jam right now.
Frida Kahlo’s belongings were locked in a bathroom for 50 years – now see them for yourself.
Interesting: Most Japanese schools do not employ cleaning staff. This is why, plus a lot of other Japanese manners you have never heard of.
If Wes Anderson had directed The Shining.
This 90-year-old lady turtle got her legs eaten by rats (??!?!?!?!) but it’s okay because she now has hotwheels.
Sheryl Sandberg’s heartbreaking message on her first 30 days of widowhood.
What would it be like if we all learned to no longer value being likable?
How to find your place in the world after graduation (I had some words on this topic too).
The Colorado teen who was forbidden from giving his speech as class valedictorian because he was gay got the last word. Go Evan!
Holiday of the week: June 13 Sewing Machine Day celebrates the invention of the sewing machine. Prior to it’s creation in the 1800s, clothes items were sewn together by hand…stitch by stitch.
Word of the week: Palimpsest. A manuscript written over earlier ones.
Moment of Self Promotion: Watch my video for the secret to double-sparkle, no-shed glitter.
Those Allison Holdridge prints need to be on cotton sundresses. And pillows and cushions on wicker furniture, out on a lanai overlooking a sparkling lagoon.
Swoon. That would be lovely!
allison holdridge’s print is on my favorite tote bag, which goes everywhere with me. in fact, i have 2 allison holdridge tote bags and flip flops, too. i wish she’d make sheets and comforters too.
Sheryl Sandberg’s Facebook post is touching and inspiring. I can’t imagine what she has gone through and knowing what to say (if anything at all) to someone who is struggling is never easy. It seems just letting them know you’re there for them every step of the way and that you will listen when they need someone is all you can do. Thanks for sharing such meaningful words.
She is very talented. When I read “Lean In” about female career perspective, I wondered about her husband’s perspective in all of that. It sounds like he was an incredible man. What a loss.
“She seems quite happy, but it’s difficult to tell with a tortoise.”
True.
lol. It is hard to tell 🙂
An interesting collection of articles and anecdotes this week! I especially liked the re-run of your post on how to live your life at work. The Sheryl Sandberg post didn’t load fast enough for this ADD’er, so I’ll have to read it later. I’m not big on glitter, but I have 3 sequined skirts and two sequined dresses and one dress with square black plastic hanging chads. All for dancing. I’m practicing my samba this week.
Never enough sequins. Never. I just ordered a sequin abaya from the UAE. Can’t wait!
Thank you for the Happy Monday posts. Settling in to read these before bed is like finding the most cozy spot at the library. P.S. I second what Deb said, Allison’s art needs to be on fabric!
That’s the best compliment I can imagine — thanks Alexis!
