There is someone in Seattle driving around in a Flamingo car.
It’s not me. And it’s not Macklemore.
Shocking.
I’m turning this moment of jealousy into an opportunity for public awareness. So, to my peeps in Washington state; if you ever find yourself on the highway and see this woman, you need to give her a honk-out. Not just for me, but for all of us.
This photo came to me courtesy of my friend Hilary. It was a good thing it was Hilary driving that day and not me, as I would have driven off the side of the road. I mean, honestly, this is magnificent. An hour of internet stalking later, I came to find another photo of the car close up, and y’all: IT’S NOT JUST FLAMINGOS. It’s crystals and beads and flowers and some sort of pink pom-pom witch hat…
It’s like some sort of Stevie Nicks meets Lilly Pulitzer extravaganza. On a car. And it drives. I’m not the one driving it, but okay, I’m a big girl, I can move past this.
Read more about Marty Vale and her her car art (it’s not just the flamingomobile!)
Now, I don’t actually own a vehicle, but if someone reading this has experience affixing things to a car, preferably in a way that can be done quickly under the darkness of nightfall, I would love to hear what you have to say. Feel free to email to me directly, as I have friends and relations who might read this and become suspect. I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

Looks like the old-style Jeep Cherokee. Marvelous, sturdy car. My daughter had one until a couple of deer decided to stop in front of her.
Amy Albanese
That is really impressive. I’d love to know what kind of glue she uses as well.
PEACHES
Same here! And how does she wash it? It must require washing on occasion, right? It can’t rain THAT much in Seattle.

Peaches: I will stalk this lady for you. I promise.

HAha, you better!

Silicone adhesive/caulk. Like the stuff you put around your tub. Sticky as all get out and impervious to the weather.
Aunt Peaches
Hurm…I have not had such great luck. I used tile adhesive to cover some outdoor pots a couple years ago…it was water safe, but not weather safe (it shrank when exposed to winter then crumbled off come spring). Maybe I was using the cheap brand through…
Camellia
Oh, you don’t know me, but please honk for me. Honk again.
Aunt Peaches
honk!

I think it needs some Glitter. Pink glitter would be good on the side mirrors.

I have seen this car and have almost the same picture! It was at the Fremont Fair & Summer Solstice Parade. They have a weird car exhibit. It’s as amazing in person as it is in the picture. My husband told me that if there was ever a car made for me, this was it. I can’t get enough of it.

There is a HUGE art car community with in Burning Man. And there’s some amazing ‘art’ & creativity in the Houston Art Car Parade.
Try http://www.artcaragency.com/art-car-categories/ for possible gluing possibilities.
One day, I will own a art car!

I bet Sugru would work, it would just be expensive. Love that stuff
Ellicia
Can you imagine the pure unadulterated joy this woman must feel behind the wheel of this car? I would love to pull up to Neiman’s at NorthPark (the store that proves Mae West’s adage “Too much is never enough.) and hand the valet the keys. I’d probably have to have a kill switch installed though, because. if he was anything like me, he would just have to take it for a spin.

My goodness nice efforts of the lady, she treat her car like a cellphone, I’m curious don’t the flamingos block her view while driving at all?
