I bought a painting of Uncle Henry.
No, he is not my Uncle Henry, that’s just the name the dude behind the counter at the thrift store called him.
Curious, I asked, How do you know his name is Henry? Or that he is an Uncle?
We don’t. That’s what we came up with.
You know anything else about him?
Uhhh….well, I said he is someone’s uncle but the manager say he is bank president. Jeanine say he is grandpa. Jorge, Jorge he say he is in the Serbia mafia and has a tattoo sleeve.
A whole entire SLEEVE of tattoos?
Yeah man.
What kind?
Skulls and stuff. Thorns. Maybe some babies or something. You can’t see it under the suit jacket.
None of my other portrait paintings have tattoos or mob ties. Way to bring diversity, Uncle Henry.
Looks like a past Russian president, with hair and without a birthmark. And tattoos and mob ties. Cool
So true! He’s somewhere between Gorbachev and Yeltsin.
Actually, he looks a lot like my grandpa (ordinary worker from Germany) – not exactly as fancy ;)….
I need to shop at your thrift shop. The employees sound awesome.
This one is from the Salvation Army on Oakton in Skokie. Not my *favvvvvorite* thrift store, but I rarely leave empty handed.
He is amazeballs in that wall of art, eEnd of story. Only you, Peaches!
I saw an amazing painting at my local thrift shop. It’s of a 50s era woman, strutting her stuff, walking a hulking, equally poised black panther. I’m in love with it but it costs $250, and I’m only 14 so that’s kind of a big chunk of my money. What should I do?
Learn to paint? 🙂
Ask them if you can work off the money in the shop, doing chores for them or whatever?
He kind of looks like an insurance salesman, but the lapels on the suit! Maybe the 40’s? The fifties had really thin lapels. How much was it? I would be afraid to walk through your dining room in the middle of the night. How about a panoramic photo of it all? Ann
PS: Liberace movie review please!
I should do that. Don’t think enough people watched it to warrant an individual post….but I might have to update the original. It was not what I expected at all!
Are those clowns relatives, too? Not to imply that your relatives are clowns. Unless they are, in which case I am very frightened of them.
Love the new addition to the family. He looks oddly familiar, but I can’t place him.
Actually, yes, I do have relatives who like to dress as clowns. http://www.auntpeaches.com/2010/11/these-are-my-people.html
They called him Uncle Henry because he looks like Henry Kissinger (who very well might be in the Serbian Mafia).
car dealership owner? looks like somebody my great-uncle Elmer would have purchased a Packard from. 😀
