I know it’s Monday, but this photo has me dreaming of a beach holiday on the pink waters of Lake Rebta in Senegal. Now THAT is what I call a weekend!
I don’t normally go for foofy parties for babies, but this flamingo themer is a winner.
How to change the world, one compliment at a time.
A Jetaire play fort. Why do they not make this in adult sizes?
I’m crazy about this mineral photo display.
A dude pal, who wishes to remain nameless, just revealed that he wears men’s elevator shoes from this place all the time. Not because he need more height, but because, “Same reason you wear heels. They make my ass look great.” Interesting.
Speaking of photos, you have until July 10th to catch Dale’s exhibition.
I need another rug like a need a hole in the head, but the 70-80% off sale at Rugs USA is seriously tempting. (This $900 Tuscan lattice now under $200 is itching at me).
A few things before I ask you to watch my laptop.
These DIY windchimes have SUMMER written all over them!
PS This just in: Hobby Lobby won its supreme court case to deny its employees contraceptives as part of their health care coverage. This is why you (still) will not find me shopping there. I also appreciated hearing Susan’s perspective on the issue. Also, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is pretty badass.
Tomorrow I’m celebrating a special birthday and some exciting news…stay tuned!
They make Jetaire Play Forts in grown-up size—they’re called Airstreams. I want to tour the country in an Airstream after I retire one day just for the fun of it.
And yeah…I’ve already added Hobby Lobby to my boycott list for various reasons (right up there with the WalMarts–haven’t been in a WM in 9 years). There are other places to shop, so I shall take my bidness elsewhere. After today, though, HL can go jump in the lake.
But not the pink lake. I don’t think they’d be down to party with us!
…odd, deb, that you would live in Oklahoma where HL is headquartered and where Walmart is more popular than anywhere but Arkansas (where it is headquartered). Next time you drive by one, give them the bird for me 🙂
I wonder if Hobby Lobby pays for Viagra for its male employees.
Patty
Yes, it does.
I have been to Lake Rebta! Although I had no idea until today that it was called anything other than “Pink Lake.” I attended boarding school in Senegal. I once visited Pink Lake with my dorm-mates and I only wish I remembered it looking as glamorous as it appears in the photo above. It is pink, for certain, but I recall thinking it looked pretty gross.
Rebehah — boarding school in Senegal? How cool is that! But the lake is gross you think? The areal shots from above made it look so awesome!
My teenage petulance may have altered my memory of its glory. The photo you have here certainly looks amazing — although I suspect Photoshop may play a role. The time of year may also be a factor. If memory serves, we went during the Harmattan season when gray-brown dust from the Sahara hangs in the air for months on end — not nearly so lovely a contrast with pink as that stunning blue sky.
The Jetair is totally lost on kids.
Have not been to Hobby Lobby since your last rant about them (thank you very much!) But this steps it up a notch. Not only will I never, EVER in my life set foot in their despicable establishment, but I will do all in my power to influence everyone I know or have contact with to act similarly. And I will work hard to help people never forget!
I will shop at Hobby Lobby. If you don’t like their policies don’t work there or shop there!! Simple as that 🙂 Stop complaining about everyone else and spread love, peace and joy no matter what others are doing.
Janet
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
Janet, the Supreme Court Ruling extends to 90% of all US employers – Hobby Lobby is the tip of the iceberg (but no, I have not shopped there in years and I encourage others to do the same).
Anonymous, Although I may disagree with the Supreme Court findings and the sentiments of Janet’s comment, I don’t think an insinuation or accusation of “evil” is helpful.
She was simply quoting Edmund Burke. It is a GREAT quote, and applicable, in my opinion. Who exactly will defend the rights of the unborn if not us – all whose mothers CHOSE LIFE? Who hears the voices of the unborn or the aborted fetuses? Oh, yeah. No one, as they have been forever silenced through, in some cases, abortion-inducing drugs that, thanks to this ruling by the Supreme Court, do NOT need to be covered/provided by insurance policies of those companies – HOBBY LOBBY is but one – whose founders hold religious convictions about the SANCTITY of life. I, for one, have the highest respect for those who, pro or con, make an intellligent arguement and stick with it until it reaches the Supreme Court, and I commend Hobby Lobby for having the backbone to risk character assassination in the Court of Public Opinion, which is what is going on here. And I must confess that it sickens me more than a little bit to hear the backstabbing going on here. I signed up for email notifications for the sake of entertainment, so thanks – but no thanks. I’m out of here.
I’m confused. Why would you assume Anonymous is a “she”? And who is backstabbing here? I think everyone here appears to be pretty good at stabbing in the front. If you enjoy leaving comments about your opinions on abortion, “for the sake of entertainment,” there are probably better places to share.
