Long ago in a time when dinosaurs roamed earth, before the dawn of the iPhone, before there was Netflix, before I had a blog, before I worked for myself…I used to sit in a cubicle all day and gawk at home tours on Design Sponge. I used to wonder who lived in these places and what it might be like to one day live somewhere like that. Some place interesting. Inspiring. Some place that that somebody wanted photograph.
Welp. That day has come!
Design Sponge featured a full our of my home today. It feels a little surreal. I’m still flabbergasted they asked in the first place. The photos are from last fall, which is just enough distance from things for me to look at the images and almost forget that I’m looking at MY HOUSE. If you are long time readers, you will probably recognize most of the spaces but perhaps you can get a little more context. If you are a new reader because you popped over from Design Sponge, welcome.
Special thanks to the folks at Design Sponge for featuring my home. To Grace Bonney for being one of the first people to support this blog and get it off the ground back in 2010 (that yellow coffee filter flower tutorial keeps on clicking) and to Max Tielman for his generous words and putting the whole thing together. I am blown away. Thank you.
Day = Made.
how cool peaches!
you dun’ good.
Too cool! I love your place. Very inspiring…especially the bright doors.
Holy WOW! I love that you are being properly appreciated by the cognoscenti of decor. You are the awesome in the sauce!
dang, Peaches! Design Sponge <3
So cool!! You do have a very inspiring, beauty full home.
I read both DS and your blog daily. What a fun surprise to find your house featured over on DS today! It was a gorgeous tour–and a great way to see your whole place in one magical moment.
This is great! At first I read it as “Minimalist” and was thinking, “Really?” ha! Your home looks amazing!
That was an awesome home tour!
Love, love , love the truthfulness within yourself which reflects in your surroundings.
You go, girl!
Sending good thoughts from a far corner of New Mexico.

I’m delighted for you!
I’ve been reading for ages so it’s nice to see the little gems you’ve posted about hiding in each room.
I love picture 3 because the shelf is so colourful and the doors either side are so lovely.
I was so pleased to see the massive spider plant in your kitchen – cut those babies off to grow more! i have my grandma’s spider plant and have passed a few babies on to friends.
I would love to have an entere bureau next to my side of the bed but think Mr Jones would fret with all of the stuff I would put on it. I love the orange colour!
Great article! It must have been a bit weird to open up your house to all and everyone but the whole thing was great!
And I learned a new word…Maximatlist…had to google it. I love peeping at your place and that magazine spread was so enjoyable! Congrats!
I loved it! Your home was so beautiful!
Fabulous home and such an inspiration too.
Thanks Kay!
Your house is so happy. It strikes me as a real place where all things have been chosen out of love.
Also, the quote on your table “MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT MY HOME IS: IT’S OKAY TO MAKE A MESS” really resonates with me. I feel that creative moments are messy, and the best way to encourage creativity is to embrace that. There was an article about Tavi Gevinson’s home (tried to link it here, but couldn’t find it), where they described how her mother thought that the children leaving work-in-progress lying around the house was absolutely normal, and I found this just wonderful (the opposite of “go clean up your room!”). Both children and adults need this 🙂
Apparently Tavi Geninson’s mom knows a thing or two about encouraging creativity — I hope more folks embrace this sort of strategy. We are way too uptight about things looking “pretty” when we could do so much more with focus on things looking “interesting” or “thoughtful” or “innovative”…let’s hope it’s a trend 🙂
So… I want to live in your home. I loooove color and fun and coziness and interesting objects and you have all of those things and then some. Coming over from Design Sponge (where I now spend my days). I always love looking at the pretty homes, but rarely say, “I’d trade mine for hers,” and with yours, I would say just that. 🙂
Thanks Rita, that is really sweet of you to say. Glad you stopped by!
