I’m big on egg trees. Always have been. They are a big part of my spring festiveness (yes, that’s a real word) and I’m usually rather proud of the end result. There is nothing I love more than turning a scrawny branch into a candy colored ballgown of Eastery goodness. It’s my thing.
With that in mind, you can imagine how inferior I’m feeling after discovering Mr. Volkner Kraft’s egg tree in Saalfeld, Germany. As of last year, there were 9,500 eggs hanging on display. And it’s still growing.
Holy crap!
Holy crap, indeed! Thanks for passing that one along…
OOOhh…purty!
my soon to be ex husband was born in Saalfeld. Holy crap indeed!
Linked to your blog today from dollarstorecrafts.com. Two hours later and I can’t stop hitting the “older posts” button. I absolutely love your creativity, your humor and your cat. I wish we had basements in Texas so I could steal the idea of locking the kids away with KFC for major holidays. Thanks so much for your great work!
Stunned. In the best way. Thanks for blowing my tiny mind!
Wow! I’m speechless. Still hope you put up some pics of your egg tree {which I know will be fabulous!}

Wow! Thanks for the great photo Aunt Peaches!
ace I reckon – very you 😉
AMAZING! Easter is THEIR favorite holiday, huh?? I bet some of us could rival them with our Christmas decoration stash!
Holy crap is right!
I grew up in Germany and fondly remember the annual decorating of eggs for the egg tree outdoors. In hindsight, my favorite bit of trivia about that tradition is that we would rub the painted eggs with raw pork rinds, to make them shiny and waterproof. And if I had to guess, those rinds landed in the base for a pot of stew right afterwards…
Wow wow… I’m in awe of the awesomeness of it. Those are ALL eggs. What you say? 9500? Holy commitment Batman!!!! Where do find this stuff? It doesn’t matter. I love it.
now I have to love a post titled holy crap but then you just took it up a notch. What a tree. So do they add more each year? ANd who counts? do they have a running total? what happens if some break? I need more information????
Thanks for the beautiful pic!
