At the end of the year I like to skim through my stats to see what search terms brought people to this site. It’s supposed to help me carve out a roadmap as to where the audience wants to go in the year ahead. From this excercise, I learned that 1. All y’all have a one-way ticket to Crazytown (Toot-toot — I’ll see you there!), and 2. You really, really want to know about removing candle wax from random stuff. You also like Niel Diamond, paper flowers, and new ways to upcycle pig sombreros.
It’s no wonder we get along so well.
That said, this is the time of year for carving out some plans for the blog in the year ahead. I feel like 2013 got away from me and now, when the year is fresh and the calender is blank, is the best time to start. Content here will always be my personal sandbox but if you were looking for stuff/posts/ideas/info on the interweb and came up short (I’m looking at you, you up-cycling hipsters with excess pig sombreros), leave a comment or send me an email so maybe we can tackle it together. I warn you, my existing knowledge base is very limited outside the realms of Liberace and sparkly things, so I make no promises, but whatever. This could be a fun exercise for both of us. Or all of us.

I have a saying, I say it all the time when people receive stuff from me that I have made. How did you make that? With what? Paper? Seriously? My response:
You gotta be crazy to be crafty.
I think “craziness” (what I refer to as spiritual philosophy) is linked somehow to artistic/crafty endeavours because it taps into the same part of the brain. All my *philosophies* are directly linked through metaphor to creative endeavours. You have to admit that all artists are slightly cracked. Which makes their art have more depth of meaning!
I cant really create unless there is a spiritual element or philosophy behind the craft or art I am creating. We mine the gold of creativity by first tapping into the crazy. Woop!
Agreed. I am hard pressed to think of an artist/creative type who isn’t holding a heep of crazy. It’s good for us 🙂

Well said. Rest assured, no plans to change, just to get better organized with my approach. You guys give me so much…it seems fair to occasionally ask what you want in the first place. With more than 200 posts a year, there is plenty of room for a few requests 🙂

I’d like to see more recycled/repurposed/eco-friendly projects. No more newly acquired plastic and other synthetic materials!
How do you check these stats? I use wordpress, and in my dashboard, it only ever says “Google Search” but won’t say exactly what was searched. Any tips?

If you install Google Analytics you’ll be able to see all sorts of stuff about reader habits – how they got in, why/where they leave, popular trend habits. I barely understand any of it, but there are lots of tutorials on youtube. Handy stuff.
