Ever since I made those yarn bobbles last year, I have been looking for places to hang tassels (did you see my Christmas tree?) When the folks at Etsy approached me about sharing a mega tassel tutorial, I was keen to do it. I don’t have an Etsy shop myself, but many of my friends (and readers!) do. I have found a number of new, independent, affordable artists selling their stuff on Etsy and have always been delighted with the work. Also, it’s quite the community! They published my tutorial yesterday and I can’t remember a time I have seen so many positive comments. Not just on my work – anywhere. Etsy folks are out to support each other. I’m so glad they asked me to share in the fun. I hope you will pop over and check out their blog for yourself. Oodles of tremendous ideas over there!
Have an old market bag that needs a pick-me-up? Get your tassel on!
I hope you don’t mind my asking.
I was wondering if you recall where you got those large red and black flower pillow cases from your old house?
I saw them when I scrolled down to the bottom of the page, and clicked through the INSTAGRAM photos.
Lola is sitting on the bed and there are green fish pillows in front.
Sorry, I know it’s a long shot, but those red and black flowers are awesome!
I think Target sold them at one point?
Thanks in advance!
I got mine at Crat & Barrel years ago, but the pattern is about 50 years old. It’s called Uniko (I might be spelling that wrong) and it’s from Marimekko. They have revived it over the years in lots of color ways. I have it in black and green as well, and I know C&B does a yellow version too. Just google “Uniko Marrimekko” and you’ll find lots of sources.
Thanks, Aunt Peaches!
You don’t know how happy you have made me!
I would never have found them without your help.
You’re the best Aunt Peaches ever!
(Yes, I am a dork!)
Yay! Glad to hear it. PS; Mark Montano did a DIY pillow video that was VERY reminiscent of these. I don’t have the link on my my phone this sec, but if you google his channel you’ll see them. Worth a looksee. 🙂
OMG seriously…Tassel ALLLLL the things! I love it.
I just bought a market bag and some tassels & pompoms from an Esty seller (Woman Shops the World) to do exactly this (tassel up a market bag) and now I just want to try making the funky tassels myself!! These look fantastic.
Not going to lie — I was looking at tassels from Woman Shops World before making this — may have even pinned them. Great stuff. Tassels are fantastic but there is nothing wrong with buying readymade from another artist.
