You know that cartoon where Donald Duck is walking down the street eating an ice cream cone and he’s happy and feeling pretty good then Goofy or some dumbass walks down the street eating a 30 scoop hot fudge sundae out of a silver chalice and suddenly Donald Duck turns red with rage about his one-scoop half-melted ice cream cone? Yeah. That one.
That is how I feel right now. I am Donald duck making my nifty little things out of empty bottles for years, and this broad Veronika Richterová, is Goofy. Honestly. THE NERVE OF THIS WOMAN.
Here I was thinking I knew everything there was about turning bottles into flowers and lights and stuff, while this woman is whooping it up in the Czech Republic making lobsters and chandeliers! LOBSTERS, PEOPLE.
Swear to God. I know she doesn’t know me, but I’m pretty sure she is doing this to piss me off.
Welp. If you want to see more of her work, you should probably pop over here. Or whatever.
If you want to DIY something pretty cool but Not-Quite-Lobster-Cool, here is a humble light fixture you can make for less than $3.
GTG. I have an ice cream cone to clean up.

Really! She’s got a nerve!
P.S. Did you see the jellyfish?
aunt peaches
I totally did! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?
Dana
WOWZER! Like Chihuly–but plastic. Pretty impressive and beautiful to boot.
aunt peaches
Right? I want to see these lined up in a window.

I am never going to look at a plastic bottle the same way. What is sold in a red bottle?
aunt peaches
NO CLUE. I was totally wondering the same thing. There used to be a berry juice sold in a dark red plastic container, but I haven’t seen it in years…and even so, it wasn’t that beautiful ruby red like the lobster. I read somewhere that the FDA has some regulations on the dyes used certain kinds of plastics used for food delivery — perhaps red is not legal in the US. Hmmm….

Now THAT’s what we are talking about! We Need you to bring these things to our attention. Then show us how to make one neat thing. Kind of dumb it down. I wonder if she has every done a wedding! Love the cacti the best so far. That’s My kind of plant.
Jennifer O'Neil
Totally, flippin’ cool!

WTF? I have never seen a red plastic bottle (I dont think)…these are pretty spectacular I must say…. Anyway, to cheer you up after the ice cream fiasco, go check out the crochet coral reef and China’s rainbow mountains. Love Rook xox

OH. MY. WORD. All of these are really cool. The cacti (all of them) are my faves. I would suspect the lobster started out as clear, but may have been painted using something like a Gallery Glass paint that can coat the plastic and still leave it see-thru.There are several layers of plastic on him, so a pink dye on each layer would build into red once stacked. But what do I know? Empty plastic bottles in my house are recycled into dog toys before anything else.
And I love your green spiky light cover! This was one of my first Pinterest pins.

Love the new blog look.

Thanks Rebecca! You are the first to notice. It’s under construction a bit this week as I make a few changes every day. Stay tuned!

Hey AP–loving the new banner! As a fellow designer, I have to offer a few suggestions–too much of the striped awning, move your peach vine up–it’s so cute. And girl!!! you’re not giving yourself enough credit–increase the size of your name for crying out loud! That’s what I loved about your old landing page–it was loud and proud.
aunt peaches
Agreed Agreed. Unfortunately, WordPress is not quite as agreeable…still working out the kinks. But thanks!

Shh. Your bottle lamp is lovely! This girl is OBVIOUSLY using some form of dark magic to create this stuff. Red bottles??? I ask you!

You will always be first in my book – I took your flower inspiration when I found it years ago and ran with it with my kiddos at work – they LOVED it – you inspired us to NO END! – now this other chicky just put her spin on it – notice the very small volume of flowers – she can not compete with you there – so she didn’t try… Keep sharing the love – I always check out your site when I need a BLING boost to our crafting madness

Thanks 3GoatMom! I have to ask. Do you really have 3 goats?!!? That would be pretty exciting. 🙂

Aunt Peaches, I love the new banner. Oh my goodness, wow this is so creative. I feel sub par in comparison with my upcycles. Thank you for sharing this site with us. I wish we had more colors of plastics here. You should also check out http://www.craftandfun.com/ lots of ideas for upcycles.
aunt peaches
I love love love that site! I’m actually looking to do a lot more upcycling projects in the future. It’s something I LOVE doing and it’s something that came back as a favorite on the reader survey, so I’m on the lookout for new ideas. Thanks Shannon!
