So here is a thing.
I need more flamingos for my Christmas tree.
And by need I mean want, but whatever. This is important.
Now, I know for a fact that there are at least, like, ten other crazy flamingo people who read this blog. Maybe eleven. Maybe more who are hiding in the bushes. And I’ll bet at least some of them are crafty, amiright? Right. So I am proposing an exchange. With me. Who wants to exchange homemade flamingo ornaments with me?
24 hour update: Flamingo exchange is maxed out. Come back next year!
Interested? Read on…
See, ever since the valentine exchange started a few years ago I have been toying with the idea of an ornament exchange. However, because the valentine exchange is almost too-big for me to handle on my own anymore, I want to keep this one as small and streamlined as possible. And because this is my blog, I get to set down self-serving limitations. I like flamingos, thereby, this exchange is limited to flamingos. The ornament need not be fancy, it could be a simple cut-out or a child’s drawing or such…so long as it is a flamingo and can be hung on a Christmas tree type of thing. I won’t ruin the surprise by showing you a picture of what I am sending, but I can tell you now it involves real feathers (read: if you are offended by the use of feathers, this is probably not a good trade for you).
So here is what I propose: You email me before November 25, we exchange mailing addresses, we both commit to sending our mingos free by end of this month, that way we get to enjoy them all December. I’m thinking the demand for this will be limited (not everyone wants flamingos on their tree, can you imagine?), but I have 30 already made and ready to go. If 30 people email me before November 25th, I’ll update this post to indicate the exchange is closed.
24 hour update: Flamingo exchange is now closed. I see a couple of names in the comments from folks who want to sign up but have yet to send me an email — please send an email asap so I can get a final head count. Thanks!
I am soooo in!
Awesome!
I need a quick kick-in-the-butt to get me started with my Christmas so count me in! 😀
Woot!
Is it just one ornament or three like w Valentines Day?
No, just one (me!)
My ornament would be horrendous, so I will skip (you’re welcome!) but that picture of the flamingodeer is everything. Thank you for making the world a better place.
Don’t be silly! All ornaments are welcome in this exchange 🙂
I’m in 🙂 I just emailed you.
OK I’m in! But only if you don’t mind sending to New Zealand. I won’t be offended if you don’t wanna.
New Zealand is great. Someone just signed up from Australia. My tree is going to be so international!
baaaaah! i’m so excited! let the flamingo-ing begin!!
I’ll start mine tomorrow!
Sewing a flamingo sounds like a fun break from sewing more clothing…count me in!
I live in Australia, might be too far to send for free 🙁
The ornaments I’m sending are not-breakable and fit in an envelope, so I don’t mind if you don’t 🙂
Haha, that Rudolph image is great! I love flamingos and think a tree laden with flamingo ornaments would be fabulous. I can’t do the real feathers thing but I’m still psyched to see what you make!
FUN! (Just sent you an email)
Hope I can join in 🙂
totally in!!! so excited there are others who are flaming-nuts like me!!!
I’m in!!! Sounds like fun 🙂
Hahahahaaa! So fun, you have the best goofy ideas! I am too late but will make an ornament inspired by your flamingitis.
Bummer, I am too late. 🙁
Darn it! it’s already closed! I had the best ornament planed out.
Oh man! Missed this!!! Are you still going to be doing the Christmas card exchange?
No Christmas cad exchange, but maybe Valentines if I can figure a way to streamline the process.
Flamingo exchange- so awesome!! I’m looking forward to the pics!
Looking forward to seeing the pictures you get of all the new flamingo buddies you get and where they are from too!!!
I know it’s closed, but if anyone backs out, please count me in!!
Dang it. I just found my drink stirrers that I made some flamingo earrings A LA Mich… I was thinking about doing something with those. Bugger.
