I am in the process of cleaning out my craft room. While I’m sorting things out, I decided to designate a drawer to ribbon…
…. then that drawer split and begat two more drawers, one for loose fabric ribbon, and one for spooled ribbon; then that drawer begat three drawers, one for curling ribbon, one for wrapping ribbon, and one for raffia …. and so on and so on through every type of arts and craft supply under the sun until I filled an entire wall of drawers (thank you Ikea Antonius). There was a lot of sorting and dividing. A lot of begats. It’s practically the Old Testament up in here.
I had five or six bags of plastic bows floating around the house — some salvaged off of gifts, most purchased at after Christmas sales for 50cents or so. Now that they are consolidated, it’s quite the collection. The sad part is, even though I have made some into peonies, I don’t even remember the last time I gave a gift with a bow on it. Why am I saving them?
***ALTERNATIVE GIFT TOPPERS (AKA: MORE STUFF THAT WILL PREVENT ME FROM DEPLETING MY BOW COLLECTION. WHICH ISN’T REALLY A COLLECTION SO MUCH AS A SIGN I NEED TO QUIT BUYING CRAP THAT I WILL NEVER USE) ***
- Cupcake Liner Gift Topper (yet another thing I already collect!)
- Children’s Drawings Turned Into Bows
- Junk Mail Accordion Fan Bows
- Candy Seals From Stickers and Ribbon
- Plastic Bag Pom Poms

sigh…I should really corral my bows into a bin of sorts. But, I am sad that it may take more then 1 and I would have to come to terms with my bow addiction.

Why are you writing about MY bow hoarding. It’s not nice to point fingers missy. …I just really like categorizing things…and one can’t truly categorize unless you have one of every type ever made……. Omg I have too much crafting junk too.

“I don’t even remember the last time I gave a gift with a bow on it. Why am I saving them?”….Yes me too. I don’t know why at all. I think that if I give them away then I will need them or find a new craft that uses them or something of the sort. And when you do use them, they pop right off the package, even after you tape them on.

Dear Aunt Peaches, being an artist’s muse, I just came up with what I think is a great use for your bow “collection”. Glue them to a ceiling…..cover an entire ceiling with them, if you are feeling really ambitious, you could do a mosaic type pattern………

LOL, I love this because I suffer from the same problem. I just recently found your blog and am LOVING it! Just my style. 🙂

Stella, you never cease to amaze! I can see why you are an artist’s muse 🙂

No fingers pointed anywhere but myself, I swear. It’s true about categorizing…it’s no fun unless you have one of every kind!

I’m so glad!

This is very true. Then again, nothing is wrong with two bins. If the Philippines can have 7107 islands, you can have two bow bins. Ain’t nothing wrong with that!
