Remember that time when you had nothing else to do two weeks before Christmas and spent hours lovingly painting gift wrap for your friends and family?
No?
Hmmm….well, remember that time you freaked out because you were leaving town and instead of doing your work you went into a manic surge of creative energy and stayed up half the night painting gift wrap for friends and family?
WELL I DO.
Truth is, I don’t even have all that many gifts to wrap, I’m stockpiling in general. I keep my paper shopping bags under the sink (in a paper sorter, fyi) and then every time I’m about to rinse off a paint brush, which is more often that you’d think, (occupational hazard), I swipe the leftover paint over a bag or two. Then months later, when inspiration strikes, there is already a base for adding more color and pattern.
Most of the bags started out as paper shopping bags, but a couple are actual gift bags from the dollars store. This is how they start out…
The one on the left is called Christmas Leopard. I’m shocked they aren’t selling this pattern by the bolt. Someone, please, let’s get on this! Holiday animal prints could really be a thing. I have it on good authority that Santa loves leopard print. Also, Santa loves glitter. So you know we had to hit that.
Here is the process in action. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen this one already…
I also made some boxes, but boxes are bad for traveling, so these will be staying home. ‘Til next year little boxes!
And the bonus is, THEY LOOKS REALZ GOOD UNDER MY FLAMINGO TREE.
Stay tuned. More on the flamingo front later!

I’m speechless. Ithink you could sell canvases with those designs.
Emily
I am excited to hear more about the flamingos!
Kim
Amazeballs! I will never give a unpainted bag again. This is right up my alley!
Kaylin
Ok….can we all just step back and applaud your mean pattern skills? Seriously…I would hoard this bags like no other
aunt peaches
That’s very sweet of you to say. Thanks, Kaylin!

I would totally buy those. I have wrapping paper commitment issues because I never really like any, but those are killer. Correction, I would buy them, and then hoard them and not give them away, holding onto them all Gollum-like.
aunt peaches
Hahaha. I have gollum issues myself 😉

Ah heck, Peaches. Now I will never be able to throw away a paper bag. I’m already up to my ears in “art” stuff!
Laurinda
Those are so bright & pretty! I’ve tried doing abstract paintings, & they always come out forced looking 🙁
What I really want to know is: how did you get that mirror finish on your bamboo table?! Your box looks great on it, because it’s gold & SO SHINEY!
Lita

These are beyond gorgeous, every-single-one!
If you painted these on leather handbags or canvas totes I would start a collection to fill a closet.
Seriously
